I was invited to lead an interactive session with officials from Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL).
The session provided a platform to discuss how data, analytics, and intelligent systems can support better planning, operations, and passenger experience in metro systems.
Focus of the session
During the interaction, we discussed topics such as:
- Using operational data to understand passenger flows and service performance
- Designing and deploying intelligent analytics platforms for metro operations
- Opportunities for decision support systems and dashboards for control rooms
- Passenger information systems that keep commuters informed and improve trust in public transport
The conversation highlighted the importance of combining technology, domain knowledge, and on-ground experience when building solutions for urban transport.
Reflections
Engaging directly with KMRL officials offered valuable insights into their priorities, constraints, and expectations from technology partners. It reinforced the need for solutions that are robust, explainable, and usable by operations teams.
This session strengthened the connection between research, product development, and real-world metro operations, and continues to influence how I think about deploying intelligent systems in public transport.
