I attended Ocean Business 25 in Southampton (8–10 April). Here are a few notes and some photos from the event.
Ocean Business 2025 brought together the ocean science and technology community for three days of hands-on demonstrations, technical talks, and industry networking in Southampton. The event featured an international exhibition with hundreds of manufacturers and service providers, practical training and on-the-water demonstrations, and a packed conference programme at the National Oceanography Centre covering topics from autonomous systems to seabed mapping and renewable-energy surveys.
Highlights included product launches across autonomous platforms, sensors and communication systems, plus dedicated sessions on future skills, remote sensing and environmental monitoring. Outside the main hall there were on-water demos, interactive features such as the LEGO Maritime Project, and social events (including the Wine Trail) that made it easy to meet colleagues and form new collaborations.
Overall, Ocean Business 25 was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the ocean science community, explore the latest technologies, and gain insights into emerging trends shaping the future of marine research and industry.
